Field Duty involves the running of the Canteen, BBQ and setting up fields (nets, flags benches and bins) and Ground Marshal Duties.
These volunteer duties are shared amongst all teams throughout the season. They are vital parts of running a community soccer club.

Soooo….what do you have to do on Canteen, BBQ and Field Duty ??
SETUP
Those teams on set are responsible for
Setting up the fields for Mini Games, Mod Games and full size fields…
nets, flags, reserve benches, garbage bins, “Player & Officials Only” signs.
Each Field (1,2 & 3) has an OTTO Bin with nets, flags (2 half-way flags and 4 corner flags), pegs to hold the nets down, a ladder and a hammer (for hammering net-pegs). Once the field is set up leave the bin (with the hammer and ladder inside) behind the goals at the Kelso Creek end of the field.
Setting up the canteen & BBQ…
preparing the BBQ area, BBQ, tables, Bain Maree, eskies
preparing bread rolls (cutting),
stocking the eskies near the BBQ (sausages, bacon, eggs)
Preparing the canteen
pies in the oven,
fridge stocked, coke, water, gatorade etc
receiving deliveries (butcher, drinks etc)
THROUGHOUT THE DAY
Staff the BBQ.
All items are paid for at the canteen. Customers then produce a ticket at the BBQ.
Keep the Bain Maree stocked with cooked items…. but not overstocked 🙂 Customers will come in waves between matches.
Staff the Canteen
REGULARLY PLACE MONEY IN PENCIL CASES PROVIDED AND DROP THEM IN THE SAFE (under the sink).
Field Duty
Wear a hi-viz vest. Sign Team-Sheets.
Be present around the grounds. Just being visible will often moderate people’s behaviour.
Assist the referee if required, net repairs etc.
If required politely ask people to rein in their behaviour/comments. DO NOT GET INVOLVED IN ANY ALTERCATIONS. If there is an altercation call the Police on 000.
Ask teams to clean up their mess around their reserves bench. In 95% of cases they’ll do it if they’re asked politely
AT THE END OF THE DAY
Pack up the fields. The nets, flags, pegs, hammer and ladder go back into the OTTO Bin and then into the storage area inside the club.
Bring in the garbage bins and the benches.
Pack away the BBQ, Bain Marie, eskies and tables.
