Joeys

Registration

Parents are required to register their kids in the Joeys Competition by emailing Andrew Smithwick at andrew.smithwick@bankstown.nsw.gov.au

Registration costs $60

What comp are Joeys in ?

Joeys is an unofficial, non competitive introduction for young kids (3 - 5 years) to soccer. It is played within Panania RSL Soccer Club, and not through the association. Kids do not play against other clubs or play at grounds other than Kelso.

Where and When ?
8:00am at Kelso each Saturday morning during the normal competition season, try to be there 10 minutes earlier so the coaches can get organised.

What do the kids do ?

Each week the kids are split up into small teams of about 6. The number of teams is dependent on how many turn up. The kids are taught the rules of the game and given some guidance, but mostly it’s about kids having a fun “kick around”. The session normally goes for about 45 minutes.

What does my child need ?

Shirts will be provided for the kids to play in, they will also require:

 Shorts (don’t have to be club shorts but can be bought from the club)

 Socks (don’t have to be club socks but can be bought from the club)

 Shin pads (can be bought from the club)

 Boots or joggers. This up to the parents however, it does get wet and slippery through winter so boots are better.,

When is training ?

We don't train the Joeys. We tried this a few years ago and we found it to be too hard for them and it gets very cold at night down at Kelso Park in winter.

What if it rains ?

In the event of wet weather we will endeavour to give parents as much notice as possible of any cancellations. If it has been raining and you’re unsure if the games are on call the Bankstown Council’s Field Availability Line on 1300 655 180.

Anything else ?

Joeys do not play though the school holidays.
