They say the lucks with the Irish, we obviously dont have any in our team. We started the season last week with a double header on Saturday and Sunday, we have a bye on the Saturday and our opponent on Sunday pulls out of the comp. We play this week and everyone's got 2 games under their belt and we hit a team that will definately be there come semi final time! Well enough whinging. The team played well given the quality of thier opposition, a well drilled side with an excellent passing game, soccer looks so easy when you see the other team do it! But to their credit they didnt give up and we made some excellent breaks through the defence which shows promise for the rest of the season. Scott Bradshaw was player of the match and was very unlucky not to put one away for us, and Greg did a great job as goalie. The first goal wouldnt have been saved by Mark Schwarzer!! The rest of the team showed alot of signs that they are every bit as good as last year and will improve. We made them fight hard for every goal and didnt thow in the towel, an attitude that will see us go well for the rest of the season. We need to work on our passing and our fifty fifty challenges, we have the skill to do it, we are just not thinking about doing it. Listening at training wouldnt go astray either. Hopefully we wont see too many fullbacks this year of the size we encountered on Saturday (I'm sure that kid had a moustache!) We learnt alot from the loss and need to work hard at training to over come the next 2 weeks with no games, ahh the Irish!!!
