14 A Ladies ( 8 )   Greenacre Eagles ( 0 )

Having to play on the middle week of the school holidays had us struggling to get a team together. Fortunately we had 11 players available, and our reserve bench was bolstered by Megan Nettleton & Jess Fenton from the 12 Ladies. We could have been forgiven for being complacent today considering our opposition have had quite a few goals put on them in the opening 3 rounds of the competition and have failed to post a goal of their own. However, we continue to play with the same determination and commitment each week regardless of our opposition and this week was no different. We dominated possession and field position from the opening kick-off. Brittany pushed the ball forward early on for Kaylee & Anna to pressure our opponents goal. Hayley drove the ball forward and was unlucky in the opening minutes not to score. Tay secured the ball centre field with every opportunity, and Nicky pressed hard early on to try and crack our opponents defence. A lofted corner kick early in the half saw the ball ricochet back towards Brittany who hammered the ball into the top right corner of the net to open our account for the day. Ashleys perseverance in the middle of the park had her chasing down and securing the ball all half and keeping our opposition in their own half of the field. Kaylee was able to capitalise on the abundance of field position to score our 2nd goal. Our fullbacks rarely saw the ball today, but when it did come their way, Maddie, Joelle & Allana all made sure it was sent back downfield. Rochelle had a very lonely day in goals, needing to only make one save all day. Late in the half we managed to score another goal through some Hayley magic, and we went in at halftime with a commanding 3 0 lead. We came out just as committed in the 2nd half. Ashley continued to keep our midfield safe, whilst pushing the ball forward to our halves with some well timed passing. Hayley nailed the goal of the day with a penalty shot 10metres outside of the goal box that dropped into the goal over the keepers head. Nicky continued to mount pressure out wide. Tay sprung into action from a well timed pass that put her on a breakaway from halfway. She dribbled the ball to within shooting range, and planted it safely into the net. Allana got herself heavily involved from the back to get some good ball forward. Hayley once again seized the opportunity to score her third for the day following some good lead up work from Nicky. Brittany continued to mount pressure with Kaylee, and both girls narrowly missed with a few shots late in the half. Anna got hold of some quality ball in front of Greenacres goal and scored with a well timed shot. Not to be outdone, Nicky scored our last of the day after some great lead up work from Hayley & Tay. Another great effort girls and another fantastic result. Once again some push and shove failed to rattle us and we responded the best way we can by scoring goals. We keep improving with each game, and our teamwork and positional play keeps getting better. We play the undefeated competition leaders next round so it will give us a good gauge of how we are traveling. After playing some easier opponents it will be good to get into a tight game and see how much we have learnt. Thank you once again to our great supporters parents, friends, & relatives for getting behind us, supporting us, and cheering us on. Goal Scorers: Hayley Pattison 3, Brittany Carter 1, Taylor Bell 1, Nicky Cooper 1, Kaylee Nettleton 1, Anna Dedousis 1. Encouragement Award: Brittany Carter, Player of the Week: Hayley Pattison and Players Player: Ashley Streater.
