14-1 Ladies ( 15 )   Revesby Workers ( 0 )

WHAT A WAY TO START THE SEASON IN STYLE! For too long now this team has had to endure the criticism of being a one player team. After such a comprehensive win, maybe those that have been quick to knock us will now give these girls the credit and respect they deserve. This season we have retained nine of our players from last year. Our five new additions bring an abundance of talent and now our squad of fourteen complement each others play. We are fortunate enough this season to now have a group of players all with similar abilities, all with the same desire to train hard and play some quality football. With that said, there are not enough superlatives to describe the level of play from these girls today. Prior to the kickoff we spoke about making sure we were first to the ball and that we chose our passing options sensibly. We spoke about our on field communication, and our support play. Throughout the duration of the game it was these four factors that ensured we dominated all the play today. Our speed and endurance had Workers on the back foot all day. Our girls were able to run into some wide open spaces and promote the ball through the gaps in the defense to create some great scoring opportunities. Everytime we looked to move the ball up field there were two or three girls in a position to receive a pass, and every pass found its mark. With the score 4 - 0 at halftime in our favour the girls could have easily have gotten complacent, but we spoke about maintaining our intensity and sticking to the game plan. An 11 goal haul in the second half was more than anyone expected, but the team rolled through Workers like a well oiled machine with everyone getting in and having a dig. Our forwards Kaylee Fish Nettleton and Erin Jimmy Barnes worked hard all day and combined well to score seven goals between them ... the first of Erin's career. Our halves Joelle Fentz Fenton, Gianna GG Korkofingas, Keely Minnie Munro, Allana Rif Raffie, and Nicky Coop Cooper dominated field position and ball possession, and provided great ball for the forwards to capitalize on. Our back four of Aleesha Bowie Bow, Brittany Groover Carter, Taylor Belly Bell and Anna Goddess Dedousis again proved they are the most dominant back line in 14 Ladies football, by repelling all potential attacks from the Workers and denying them any ball anywhere near our red zone. Unfortunately our star goalie Nicolette Nico Klapp didn't get to see any action at all. It was a powerhouse display of teamwork and finesse which you should all be proud of. Our next game will see the return of Allana Shorty Langdon and Savanna Sav Peake which we all look forward to. Thanks to our great troupe of supporters for cheering the girls on, and our blue vested team marshall for maintaining order with the rabble on the far side of the field. Scorers were: Kaylee Nettleton 5, Nicky Cooper 3, Erin Barnes 2, Aleesha Bow 2, Gianna Korkofingas 2, Taylor Bell 1.
