7 Rubys ( 2 )   Sports Strikers ( 8 )

Kelso Park greeted the Under 7 Ruby's with a magnificent early autumn morning for their second round clash with the Strikers. Coach Weston had the team well prepared, and once Max found a suitable fitting shirt, all the players were keen and ready to go. The Strikers got away to a quick start, taking a 5 - 0 lead in the first half, but the Ruby's fought back valiantly in the second half, coming home with a wet sail to finish with 2 excellent goals. Jade scored the first goal for the Ruby's, with a right footed rocket that slotted into the top right hand corner of the net, leaving the Strikers goalkeeper wondering what had happened. The second goal was scored by Alex, and was a deserved reward for persistence and never giving up. Jacob and Tim performed admirably under pressure in sharing the goalkeeping duties. Max, Rebecca and Paris were full of running throughout the match, whilst Michael and Lachlan provided great support up front when the Ruby's were on the attack. The AMF Ten Pin Bowling Encouragement Awards were presented to Michael and Alex for their fine efforts on field this week. The Ruby's will be back at Kelso Park headquarters on Wednesday night, training hard for their third round encounter with their next opponents. Keep up the good work Ruby's, and remember to keep having fun!
