7 Rubys ( 2 )   North Bankstown ( 7 )

The mini field number 5 at Marco Reserve was basked in sunshine as the Under 7 Ruby's were put through their paces by Coach Weston whilst waiting for their opponents to find the correct ground for their latest encounter. The first half was a real arm wrestle, with the Ruby's going in for the oranges down 3- 2 and the match shaping up as a real ding-dong battle. Although we had three goals against us, Michael, Tim and Paris were playing strongly at the back, and Lachlan displayed skill and courage in saving four other shots from the North's attackers. Alex and Michael were the two Ruby's players keeping the scorers busy this week. Alex pushed a nicely timed right footed shot into the back of the net for the Ruby's first goal. This goal was the end result of some determined attack from Rebecca; Max; Jade; and Grace in front of the North's goal mouth. Michael provided a true Kodak moment with his goal. What looked to be a defensive clearing kick from the other side of the half way line, turned out to be a long range shot at goal that took the North's keeper by surprise as the ball went rolling past him and into the back of the net. North's got the upper hand in the second half, scoring another three goals, but the Ruby's made sure they didn't get these too easily, and also kept the North's keeper busy down the other end of the field. The AMF Ten Pin Bowling Encouragement Awards were presented to Alex and Grace for their determined performances this week. Special thanks to Michael's father Nick for taking on the refereeing duties this week. Coach and players will all be back on deck at Kelso Park again this Wednesday honing their skills and preparing for the next match against the Hornets at Stuart Street Reserve.
