8 Opals ( 3 )   Greenacre Eagles ( 0 )

The game started at a cracking pace with JAKE and KEIRAN having early shots on goal making their goal keeper earn his oranges and making sure his mother had to wash his jersey because we had him sprawling all over the goal area. The first 5 minutes was all Opals and the boys were so committed to the getting the ball that KEIRAN had a head clash with an opponent and had to come off...Rough game this soccer! Greenacre tried to get past the half way line but CAMERON'S last line of defence said "there's no way thru here buddy, try another way". MATTHEW'S Rolls Royce motor was firing and he was everywhere defending in the midfield and pinching the ball for our forwards, giving DAVID a good ball to charge up field. He found DYLAN who had a cracking shot but just missed. Again Greenacre tried to get thru and this time they found BRAYDEN but his 'Rock of Gibraltar' defence said 'No way thru here either, pal". Eventually Greenacre got their first shot at the target but our keeper SAMUEL was up to the challenge, diving into the air with arms outstretched. Who needs Mark Schwarzer, we have SAMUEL. CALLUM had the defence at sixes and sevens and just missed with a cracking shot at goal. Greenacre attacked again but this time ANTHONY was in their way and showed no mercy kicking the ball well clear. TRENT made a great run, jinking and weaving but again their keeper cleaned up. 0-0 at half time. The second half kicked off and Coach Flynn had obviously inspired the boys, their mission was ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK! DYLAN stole the ball from the midfield and got it to JAMIE who had a cracking shot, more work to do for their goalie. Jake finally got our first goal after numerous attempts and it was a Mark Viduka special - he held the ball up, turned, twisted and then kaboom - GOAL! The crowd roared. Within seconds we nearly had a second with CALLUM running into an empty goal mouth, but their keeper came out of nowhere and saved it. Unlucky. Then SAMUEL put through a great pass to JAKE to score another goal. 2-0. Greenacre's best chance came when they had a free kick in the box. The ball was bouncing around the goal mouth like it was in a pinball machine, but DAVID put his body on the line and saved the day. Close to fulltime TRENT gave JAKE a beautiful pass and he went on the score his third goal for the game. 3-0. Well done team a great effort! This is Clark Kent signing off and looking forward to Lois Lane's return next week!!!
