8 Pearls ( 1 )   St Christophers ( 0 )

One of our toughest games for quite a few weeks. After many attempts at goal and some great defence and passing, a nil all score at half time accurately described the play on Mini 1. The Pearls are used to playing an attacking game and the Cougars knew just how to match us today. The possession seemed to be all our way, but every time our Pearls made a move to attack the goal they were met with a solid red wall of defense. After some encouraging words from Coach Troy, which basically boiled down to 'spreadout and get to the ball first!', their persistance paid off in the second half with Mitchell scoring a long-awaited goal off a well-timed cross from Hayden. I won't single out the strengths of individual players - mainly because I try to do that every week and I don't actually know that much about soccer, but also because when it was required, each and every Pearl lifted their game a notch higher, and their desire to do their best was what won them the match today. They never gave up and even seemed a little shocked at the level of excitment from the fans in the grandstands - and that was with our head cheer-leader missing in action! Thanks to Sharon for the watermelon, Lynn for the nice clean shirts and lollies, Marnie for being Team Marshall and to the parents for dismantling the field. Player of the Match went to Mitchell Edmunds with the Encouragement award belonging to Luke Galloway. Well done to you all.

Debbie, Manager
