10-2 ( 2 ) Bass Hill RSL ( 2 )
I hope that everyone's hearing has recovered, and that those who went home hoarse from yelling are feeling better! Today was another hard fought battle which you should all be proud of. We were without reserves today due to illness and other commitments, so everyone came off pretty tired by the end of the game. I had hardly had a chance to sit down on the bench before the first goal was scored by Bass Hill and it is still a bit of a blur. The pace of the game didn't change much from there with the ball moving from one end to the other. Our first goal came from a great break by Damon where he showed some good speed to run past the opposition defense. The second goal to take the lead (temporarily) was another super penalty by Josh after an opposition handball inside the box. Angalene, Nathan and Matthew were busy today in the midfield, as were Kosta and Jack on the wing. Murray had a terrific game at centre fullback and was right on the spot most of the time when we needed to tackle an opposition raid. Well done Murray. Jamie made a couple of great saves in goals and wore a bit of track across the box as he went looking to push the ball down to Josh on the sideline. This was one of the most exciting games we have seen this year so well done kids. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up playing Bass Hill again the finals at this rate.
Thanks to David for standing in as coach today for Gavin. Your efforts are appreciated. Goal scorers today were Josh Fenton (1) and Damon Bell (1). Player of the match was Nicholas Jiang - well done.
