9-3 ( 0 ) Chullora Wolves ( 3 )
Saturday saw the first of our games against the Chullora Wolves team at Kelso. We went into the game with no reserves, but we were able to secure the services of Thompson Chin from the 9-4's team. In the first half, Chullora had all the ball and had 6 or 7 shots at goal that were defended magnificently by our backs James Hurley, Lachlan Cole and Harry Fuelling. Ethan Macky our goal keeper made several diving saves to keep us in the game. With limited ball, Benji Hoppitt and Mitchell Driver tried hard at the front, but were unable to score. The first halve ended with a Chullora goal, to lead 1 nil at half time. The second half opened up a bit and saw us make a few charging runs down field with a couple of driving kicks by Brandon Peters and Ethan Macky, who came out of the goals and was playing in the midfield. Rachael Taylor, Bradley Sawyer, Thompson Chin and Lachlan Black were all having good games in the middle and all dropped back to help defend our goals when needed. With ten minutes left, we were down to 10 players, as Ethan Macky had to go early. A late goal pushed the score out to 2 nil. Our team obviously very tired from playing without reserves and some backing up from school soccer on friday, played above themselves and all should be very proud of their effort.
