2003 Season Match Reports

Round 12 looked like it never wanted to be played by us. It was originally washed out, then scheduled to be played last Wednesday night at 6pm. On Tuesday at 5.30pm Carolyn rang to say that a Premier League match had been given the field and that we had to play on Friday night. As the semi’s were meant to start on Saturday we decided to rest the team and forfeit, as it did not effect the qualifying teams. At 9.30pm on Tuesday we found out that the semi’s had been pushed back a week, so we decided that we would show up on Friday. Unfortunately the man with the keys to turn on the lights forgot to show up. At 6.10pm I phoned Carolyn for advice, as we were all very cold and the teams were training in the dark. She told us to sign the card and call it a night. She then rang their club secretary at Jensen to complain and they then contacted someone down the street to show up with some keys and at 6.35pm we started our game. We went into this game feeling confident as we had beaten them 4-0 last time . . . but this was not an easy game . . . it was a great game! I don’t know whether it was the lights, or the stadium (or the long warm up), but these kids played like professionals. Sean Pryde was back after missing 4 games with a fractured wrist and scored our first two goals. Jack Cassar scored our third goal. Daniel Tadros was unlucky not to score a goal as he had two good attempts in a short space of time. Owen defended our goals well, especially during a penalty shot by the opposition. Since he didn’t touch the ball in the previous two games, it was good to see him involved again. Chris Natili had another great game alomng with Harley, Sean, Daniel H., Sam H. and Nik. To all the parents . . . thanks for being there and supporting a wonderful team.
