3 fantastic goals by a team playing better every week gave us our first win for the season. A few close calls including 1 shot that hit the post and a banana kick that went backwards didn�t phase our 1st half goalkeeper shailie whose Fantastic efforts kept the opposition to only 1 in the first half. Brook�s efforts in defence are getting stronger each week with several huge clearing kicks from Alex, and Zac coupled with some great hustle in the middle from, Mason Jake & Courtney kept the ball going forward and allowing Luke, lachie and Tahlia to put plenty of pressure at the other end leading to Lachie scoring our first goal. At half time with the prospect of a win looking better than it has and the score at 1 all, Coach Carter reiterated the importance of playing as a team (not a swarm of bees) and that if the kids could maintain their positions and concentrate on passing the ball they were in with a chance. The second half started at a blistering pace and before long through great teamwork Luke scored our second goal. With plenty of return attack from the opposition again it was some great work in the goals this time by Mason that kept them to only 1 goal in the second half. With the score locked at 2 all and the smell of a win in the air confidence was high .Zac and Jake were soon all over the field. Girl power in the middle with Courtney and Shaylie had the ball continually going forward and nothing was getting past the impenetrable defence of Brook and Alex. With Tahlia and Lachie again asserting pressure up front it was with only a few minutes remaining (and not many of coach carters finger nails left) when Tahlia scored the winning goal. Great efforts by the whole team lead to our 3-2 win and with the return of Reece the road runner next week (reportedly sporting a new aerodynamic hair cut) this will not be our last. Congratulations to Shaylie who was awarded the players trophy and to Tahlia for receiving the encouragement award.
